Industrial floors face constant stress: forklift movement, heavy loads, abrasion, shrinkage, impact, and daily operational wear. Over time, these stresses can lead to cracks, dusting, surface damage, water ingress, and repeated maintenance.
Glassman AR Glass Fibres by DD Solutions help improve concrete from within. When added to the mix, these alkali-resistant micro glass fibres disperse evenly through the concrete, creating internal micro-reinforcement that helps control early cracks, improve surface durability, reduce permeability, and extend floor performance.
Unlike steel reinforcement that sits in fixed positions, Glassman fibres work throughout the concrete matrix, helping protect the floor from the inside out.
Industrial Floors?
Most floor problems start small. A micro-crack forms. Then it spreads water, dust, chemicals, and load stress make it worse.
Glassman AR Glass Fibres help control this process early by reinforcing the concrete throughout its full volume. This helps create floors that are cleaner, tougher, more durable, and easier to maintain. For contractors, the advantage is simple: better crack control without complicating the pouring and finishing process.
Key Benefits
Typical Applications
- Warehouse floors
- Industrial manufacturing floors
- Commercial floors
- Cold storage units
- Automotive workshops
- Loading bays
- Parking areas
- Basement and podium slabs
- Factory floor toppings
- Repair overlays
Usage & Mixing Guildlines
Glassman fibres should be added during the final stage of mixing, after aggregates and other mix components have been added.
- Add at RMC plant, concrete truck, or site mixer
- Mix until fibres disperse evenly
- Avoid adding fibres without proper mixing sequence
- Keep the mix workable for placing and finishing
- Conduct trial mixes for large or critical flooring projects
Quality Standards
- Fibre length verification
- Dispersion check
- Surface finish review
- ASTM C1116/C1116M recognizes glass fibre-reinforced concrete as Type II fibre-reinforced concrete containing alkali-resistant glass fibres.
Recommended Fibre Types
Glassman AR Glass Fibre – 12mm
Suitable for general concrete flooring, plastering, precast, and surface crack-control applications.
Glassman AR Glass Fibre – 16mm
Recommended where stronger crack-control performance is required, subject to mix design and trial approval.
Suggested Dosage
0.5 kg to 1.0 kg per m³ of concrete
Final dosage should depend on slab thickness, concrete grade, surface finish requirement, application type, and project-specific trial mix results.
Glassman’s material lists 0.5 to 1 kg/m³ for concrete applications and references 12 mm and 16 mm fibre types.
Technical Note
Recommended dosage and fibre length should always be finalized based on the application, mix design, site conditions, and trial results.
For structural replacement of steel reinforcement, project-specific validation by a qualified engineer is required.
